Our Chromoly Steel Tubing is seamless, mechanical tubing made from chromium-molybdenum alloy steel, as specified in ASTM A519. This tubing offers excellent strength-to-weight ratio, toughness, and wear and fatigue resistance. 4130 and 4140 are heat-treatable and can be used in both the annealed and normalized conditions, making them suitable for demanding structural and mechanical applications such as hydraulic cylinders, heavy machinery shafts, and spindles.

Products Description

 

Chromoly Steel Tubing is made from high-quality materials, including 4130 and 4140. AISI 4130 and AISI 4140 are the most commonly used chromium-molybdenum steel grades in engineering machinery applications.

 

Our 4130 chromium-molybdenum tubes are forged at temperatures between 950°C and 1230°C, exhibiting excellent mechanical properties at both room and high temperatures. They also have a low carbon content, making them easy to weld, and excellent machinability, facilitating bending, welding, drilling, and other processing.

 

4140 has poorer machinability and weldability, requiring preheating before welding and heat treatment after welding. However, 4140 has superior high-temperature resistance, remaining unbroken for 2000 hours at 600°C.

  1. 20CrMo is a low-alloy chromium-molybdenum steel with a cost advantage. It is commonly used in construction machinery, automotive transmission components, and heavy equipment parts.
  2. 25CrMo4 is an equivalent grade to 4130, offering similar strength and weldability. It is often used to manufacture shafts, gears, and other parts subjected to high stress and wear.
  3. For applications that do not require excessively high strength, AISI 1026 is a suitable choice. It is cost-effective, and its hardness and wear resistance can be improved through quenching processes, making it suitable for the mechanical field.
