Inconel Alloy 625 tubing boasts a PREN (Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number) of ≥45-far exceeding that of 316L-and exhibits virtually no susceptibility to pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion, or stress corrosion cracking in seawater and salt-spray environments. Consequently, it offers long-term durability against the harsh conditions of deep-sea salt spray, tidal scouring, and continuous seawater immersion.

UNS N06625 is designed for long-term service at temperatures ranging from 950°C to 980°C and is capable of withstanding extreme temperatures of 1050°C to 1100°C for short durations. Furthermore, it demonstrates excellent weldability, enabling the use of standard welding techniques-such as TIG and submerged arc welding-without the need for post-weld heat treatment. Compared to Hastelloy C-276, it presents lower processing difficulty and offers distinct cost advantages.

Customized Services

  1. TORICH supports custom specifications for outer diameter and wall thickness, as well as the fabrication of specialized bends-such as U-shaped and L-shaped configurations-and coiled tubing (available in lengths of up to 300 meters).
  2. Tailored heat treatment processes can be customized to meet specific operational temperature requirements, including annealing, solution annealing, and stress-relieving annealing.
  3. End finishes can be customized to feature various forms-such as bevels, plain ends, or threads-with specific bevel angles (e.g., 30°, 45°, etc.) available upon request.

Possible Alternative Grades

  1. UNS S32750 / S32760 super duplex stainless steels exhibit excellent corrosion resistance in ambient-temperature seawater; their cost is approximately 40–50% that of Inconel 625, and they are suitable for use at temperatures not exceeding 250°C.
  2. Grade 2 titanium alloy is lighter than Inconel 625 and is suitable for applications where weight is extremely critical or where fluid flow velocities are exceptionally high.
  3. 316L stainless steel is suitable for applications in shallow-water or low-salt-mist environments-such as rainwater drainage and ventilation ductwork on offshore platforms-and is priced at only about one-third the cost of Inconel 625.

application areas

  1. Offshore Oil & Gas Platforms: Seawater Cooler Tube Bundles, Platform Firewater Systems, Subsea Pipelines & Riser Linings

FAQ

Q: Can Inconel 625 tubing be used in acidic environments containing H₂S and CO₂?

A: Yes. This material complies with all requirements of the NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 standard for sour service environments and is suitable for use in offshore sour oil and gas fields.

Q: How does one choose between ASTM B444 Grade 1 and Grade 2?

A: Grade 1 (annealed condition) offers higher strength and is suitable for general marine engineering applications at temperatures ≤593°C; Grade 2 (solution-annealed condition) is used for high-temperature service conditions exceeding 593°C, such as in engine exhaust systems.

Q: What are its welding characteristics, and what precautions should be taken during field welding?

A: It exhibits excellent weldability and can be joined using conventional welding methods, such as Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) or Submerged Arc Welding (SAW). Preheating is generally not required; the interpass temperature should be maintained below 150°C, and post-weld heat treatment is not necessary.
