Nickel Alloy pipe 200 201 features a nickel content of up to 99.0% and a thermal conductivity of approximately 70 W/m·K (at 20°C)-nearly five times that of 316L stainless steel (approx. 15 W/m·K). When used in caustic soda evaporators and heat exchangers, they significantly enhance heat transfer efficiency and reduce energy consumption.
Upon contact with caustic solutions, a highly adherent NiO/Ni(OH)₂ film forms on the surface of Nickel 200/201, providing resistance to alkaline corrosion. Additionally, the pipes exhibit an elongation of ≥40% in the annealed state, allowing for complex cold-forming operations such as bending, flaring, flanging, and coiling, and are compatible with various welding processes, including TIG, MIG, and plasma welding.
Customized Services
- TORICH supports precision cutting of tubes to fixed lengths with ±0.5 mm tolerances per drawings, as well as the pre-fabrication of V-, U-, and X-shaped welding bevels.
- Tubes are supplied with a pickled and passivated surface finish; additional customizable surface treatments include bright annealing, mechanical polishing, oil-free degreasing with clean packaging, sandblasting, and retention of oxide coloration.
- For heat exchangers and reactor internal coils, tubes can be bent into U-shapes, serpentine coils, or helical coils based on drawings, with a minimum bending radius of 1.5D; post-bending solution annealing can be performed for stress relief.

Possible Alternative Grades
- For alkaline operating conditions involving chloride ions, Monel 400 is a suitable choice; it performs better in chloride-containing salts, seawater, and reducing acids, and offers slightly higher strength than pure nickel.
- For dilute caustic transport or auxiliary piping systems-where NaOH concentration is below 20%, and temperatures are below 60°C-316L stainless steel can be selected; its cost is approximately one-quarter that of pure nickel.
- For applications requiring higher high-temperature strength, such as chemical furnace components and heat treatment equipment, Nickel Alloy 600 is an appropriate choice.
application areas
- Chlor-alkali industry: Catholyte circulation piping for ion-exchange membrane electrolyzers, caustic concentration piping for falling-film evaporators, piping for dry chlorine gas scrubbing and drying towers, and cooling sections for high-purity hydrochloric acid and hydrogen chloride synthesis furnaces.
- Potassium hydroxide (KOH) and lithium hydroxide (LiOH) production: Piping for evaporative crystallizers and molten alkali transport.
- Organochlorides/fluorides: Freon reactors; chlorine-resistant piping for chloromethane and ethylene oxide/ethylene glycol processes.

FAQ
Q: How do you choose between Nickel 200 and Nickel 201 tubing?
A: The primary difference lies in carbon content: Ni 200 has ≤0.15%, while Ni 201 has ≤0.02%. For long-term service temperatures below 315°C, Ni 200 is suitable and more cost-effective; for temperatures above 315°C, the low-carbon Ni 201 must be selected to prevent embrittlement and failure caused by carbide graphitization.
Q: Why are Nickel 200/201 pure nickel tubes particularly well-suited for the chlor-alkali industry?
A: The core medium in the chlor-alkali industry is high-temperature, high-concentration sodium hydroxide (caustic soda). Nickel maintains an extremely low corrosion rate across the entire concentration range (0–70% NaOH) at temperatures up to the boiling point and is immune to stress corrosion cracking.
Q: Can you supply seamless capillary tubing with an outer diameter of less than 6 mm?
A: Yes. We offer precision cold-drawn seamless capillary tubing with an outer diameter as small as 1.6 mm, suitable for applications such as instrument impulse lines or sampling systems; coil supply is also available.
