TORICH 304 welded stainless steel pipe is supplied in the as-welded (unannealed) condition, in accordance with ASTM A778, offering a cost-effective solution for applications where full annealing is not required to ensure corrosion resistance. The 304 grade features a core composition of 18% chromium and 8% nickel, delivering a corrosion rate of ≤0.03 mm/year in environments ranging from neutral water to mildly acidic or alkaline wastewater.
304 stainless steel pipe exhibits high ductility and excellent formability, allowing it to withstand processing operations such as bending, cutting, and welding. With an operating temperature range of -20°C to 300°C, it is suitable for various water treatment applications, including ambient-temperature water supply, high-temperature circulating water systems, and low-temperature wastewater treatment.

Possible Alternative Grades
- For applications involving industrial wastewater with high chloride content, seawater desalination, or high-salinity sewage treatment, 2205 duplex stainless steel is a suitable choice; it offers two to three times the crevice corrosion resistance of 304 and higher strength, though at a higher cost.
- For scenarios involving chemical wastewater, seawater pretreatment, or the treatment of highly polluted industrial water, 316L stainless steel is a suitable option; compared to 304, it offers a broader range of corrosion resistance.

Q: What is the welding process for A778 piping?
A: The piping is manufactured using flat-rolled steel coils or plates as raw materials via shielded arc welding processes. Welds can be completed using manual or automatic arc welding, including TIG, MIG, and laser welding.
Q: What is the maximum service temperature for A778 Grade 304 piping?
A: The continuous service temperature for 304 stainless steel generally does not exceed 450°C, with a peak service temperature of approximately 750–860°C. However, since ASTM A778 is intended for low-to-medium temperature corrosive environments, the actual service temperature should be determined based on the corrosiveness of the medium and pressure conditions.
