AISI 4130 tubes, having undergone quenching and tempering heat treatment, possess high strength and low-temperature impact toughness. They are well-suited for complex operating conditions encountered during vehicle operation-such as alternating loads, bumpy impacts, and sudden braking overloads.
4130 steel is a chromium-molybdenum alloy containing 0.8% to 1.1% chromium and 0.15% to 0.25% molybdenum; furthermore, its low carbon content makes it readily weldable.
4130 alloy steel exhibits high strength and toughness, as well as favorable thermal strength properties; it maintains sufficient high-temperature strength at temperatures below 500°C, although its strength declines significantly at 550°C.
Customized Services
- TORICH offers mechanical polishing and electropolishing for both internal and external surfaces, capable of achieving a mirror finish with a roughness of Ra ≤ 0.8μm. This makes our products ideally suited for applications such as precision hydraulic lines and fuel system components in the automotive industry.
- In addition to 4130 alloy steel, we offer a wide range of material options, including: 1008, 1010, 1012, 1015, 1016, 1017, 1018, 1019, 1020, 1021, 1022, 1025, 1026, 1030, 1035, 1040, 1045, 1050, 1518, 1524, 1541, 1330, 1335, 1340, 1345, 3140, E3310, 4012, 4023, 4024, 4027, 4028, 4037, 4042, 4047, 4063, 4118, 4130, 4137, 4140, 4142, 4145, 4147, 4150, 4320, 4337, and others.
- For our tubular products, we provide machining services for internal and external threads, as well as precision groove cutting for sealing rings and fastening components.

Possible Alternative Grades
- For non-critical, low-load automotive components, AISI 1020/1026 low-carbon steel may be utilized; following heat treatment, its tensile strength can reach approximately 50% of that of 4130 steel, offering a cost-effective solution.
- For small, precision automotive parts-particularly gears, pins, and shafts that require surface hardening combined with high core toughness-AISI 862 is a suitable choice, as its cold-forming properties are superior to those of 4130.
- For applications requiring resistance to harsh environments-such as coastal areas with high salt spray or settings involving chemical corrosion-304 or 316 austenitic stainless steel should be selected for their superior corrosion resistance.
application areas
ASTM A519 AISI 4130 steel possesses exceptional fatigue resistance, high strength, and high toughness, making it suitable for automotive systems-including transmissions, drive shafts, and other powertrain components; shock absorbers, load-bearing structural elements of suspension systems; as well as racing roll cages, hydraulic and fuel system lines, among others.

FAQ
Q: Can the tubing be welded?
A: Yes. AISI 4130 exhibits good weldability; however, preheating (150–300°C) and post-weld heat treatment are recommended to prevent cracking in high-stress automotive components.
Q: What rust-prevention packaging measures do you employ?
A: The tubing is individually packaged with plastic end caps to seal the ports. Both the inner and outer surfaces are coated with automotive-grade, long-lasting rust-inhibiting oil, and the material is shipped in wooden crates. This ensures protection against rust for 6 to 12 months during sea transport and storage. Additionally, we can provide customized packaging and labeling solutions upon request.
Q: Can you provide localized heat treatment or surface hardening services?
A: Yes. For tubing intended for components such as automotive gear sleeves, pins, and spline shafts, we offer localized induction hardening, as well as carburizing, nitriding, and carbonitriding treatments. These processes allow the surface hardness to reach 58–62 HRC.
