Advantages of Duplex Stainless Steel Pipes
- Adaptable to Harsh Environments: 304/316 pipes are susceptible to pitting or perforation due to chloride ions, while duplex stainless steel pipes offer long-term, stable operation, with a lifespan 3-5 times that of traditional stainless steel pipes.
- Wide Temperature Resistance: Duplex stainless steel pipes offer stable performance from -40°C to 250°C, making them suitable for both low-temperature media transportation (such as liquefied natural gas pipelines) and medium-temperature industrial processes (such as hot water circulation and steam pipelines).
- High Yield Strength: Duplex stainless steel has a yield strength 2-3 times that of 304 stainless steel, enabling thinner and lighter pipes. This makes it particularly suitable for large-scale piping systems (such as long-distance transmission pipelines and offshore platform risers), reducing support structure loads and lowering installation costs.

Possible Alternative Grades
- Lean Duplex (2101, S32101) – Lower nickel and molybdenum for moderate corrosion resistance at lower cost.
- 316L Austenitic Stainless Steel – Easier fabrication and higher temperature performance, but lower strength and chloride resistance.
- 904L Austenitic Stainless Steel – High nickel and molybdenum content for good corrosion resistance in certain acid environments, though with higher cost.
