Stainless Wrapped Finned Tube

Stainless Wrapped Finned Tube

Stainless Wrapped Finned Tube is manufactured in strict accordance with the ASTM A312 standard. Utilizing high-quality austenitic stainless steel materials, the fins are securely bonded to the surface of the base tube through a precise spiral wrapping technique. These tubes exhibit excellent resistance to corrosion, high temperatures, and high pressure, and are primarily utilized in the oil and gas industry for exploration, gathering and transportation, refining, and offshore platforms.

The ASTM A312 stainless steel base material contains 18%–20% chromium and 8%–13% nickel (with TP316L containing an additional 2%–3% molybdenum). A dense chromium oxide passivation film forms on its surface, effectively resisting corrosion from sulfides (H₂S), chloride ions (Cl⁻), and acidic media present in oil and gas environments, thereby meeting the corrosion resistance standards of the oil and gas industry.

The Stainless Wrapped Finned Tube utilizes a cold-wrapping and high-frequency welding process, ensuring a tight mechanical interlock between the fins and the base tube with a contact gap of ≤0.05 mm. Validated through vibration testing, the fins demonstrate no displacement or detachment even under complex operating conditions.

Customized Services

  1. TORICH offers customization services tailored to client requirements, including the production of tubes in various materials-such as 304, 316, 321, 310, and 2205-as well as custom sizing.
  2. In addition to standard pickled finishes, we provide a range of surface treatments, including bright annealing, sandblasting, and electropolishing.
  3. We also offer finning services for "U-bend tubes"; specifically for flue gas environments characterized by high dust levels and a propensity for fouling, we support the customization of extra-wide fin spacing (e.g., 4–6 mm) to prevent clogging.

FAQ

Q: What is a spiral-wound finned tube, and how does it enhance heat transfer efficiency?

A: Spiral-wound finned tubes increase the contact surface area of a heat exchanger by tightly winding a continuous spiral metal strip (fin) around the outer surface of a base tube. In oil and gas applications, this configuration promotes intense turbulence in the external fluid flowing through the shell side, thereby significantly reducing thermal resistance.

Q: Can specialized alloys be used for both the base tube and the fins?

A: Yes, duplex stainless steel, super duplex stainless steel, Inconel, and 254 SMO are all available options.

Q: Can you produce bent finned tubes for use in U-tube bundle heat exchangers?

A: Yes, we can manufacture U-bent finned tube assemblies. We can accommodate initial straight tube lengths of up to 27,000 mm while maintaining optimal fin density. By carefully controlling the bending radius and applying post-bending heat treatment, we ensure that the bends remain free of wrinkling and excessive wall thinning.
