254 SMO stainless steel supports continuous operation at temperatures up to 540°C; it maintains its toughness at low temperatures without undergoing a brittle transition, making it suitable for a wide operating range of -40°C to 540°C. It exhibits a gradual decline in strength as temperatures rise and offers superior high-temperature corrosion resistance compared to standard austenitic stainless steels.
254 SMO possesses high mechanical strength-with a yield strength 1.8 times that of 316L (170 MPa)-allowing it to withstand higher pipeline pressures and equipment loads. It is well-suited for high-pressure chemical reactions and high-temperature transport applications, offering enhanced resistance to deformation and impact.
