Duplex 2205 pipes show excellent resistance to chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking (SCC)-far surpassing austenitic stainless steels. In chloride-containing environments, Duplex 2205 can withstand SCC at temperatures up to approximately 150°C, making it well-suited for high-temperature, chloride-rich produced water in oil and gas operations, as well as for wellhead flowlines and heat exchange equipment.
Compared to welded pipes, seamless pipes lack longitudinal welds and heat-affected zones; they offer uniform mechanical properties and corrosion resistance in all circumferential directions, ensuring greater structural integrity under conditions involving high pressure, acidic environments, or cyclic loading. For API 5CRA / ISO 13680 oil country tubular goods (OCTG), the seamless configuration is the preferred manufacturing method.

Possible Alternative Grades
- For demanding oil and gas service conditions-characterized by high chloride content, high temperatures, and strong acidity-2507 super duplex stainless steel is a suitable choice; it offers superior corrosion resistance and higher yield strength, though at a higher cost than 2205.
- For clean natural gas process pipelines with low chloride ion concentrations and no hydrogen sulfide, 316L austenitic stainless steel may be used; it is cost-effective but unsuitable for acidic oil and gas environments.
- For harsh, sulfur-containing environments or high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) conditions, Alloy 825 or Alloy 625 may be selected.

A: Our pipes undergo strict control over their chemical composition and are delivered in a solution-treated state. Generally, post-weld treatment is not required, effectively reducing installation time and costs.
Q: What is the maximum operating temperature?
A: Duplex 2205 is suitable for applications below 300°C (570°F). Continuous use in environments exceeding ~300°C will lead to embrittlement.
Q: What media and operating conditions are 2205 pipes suitable for?
A: Suitable for seawater, salt spray, acid and alkali solutions, acidic gases containing CO₂/H₂S, pulp bleaching liquor, etc., widely used in oil and gas, marine engineering, chemical, and environmental protection scenarios; not suitable for strong reducing acids such as concentrated sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid, to avoid pipe corrosion.
