TORICH Astm A511 310stainless Steel Mechanical Tubing exhibits excellent oxidation and corrosion resistance; furthermore, under conditions of constant load at a high temperature of 900°C, its creep rupture life exceeds 1,200 hours, thereby significantly reducing the frequency of equipment downtime for maintenance and repairs.
Grade 310 stainless steel possesses superior resistance to carburization and sulfidation. In endothermic atmosphere furnaces or environments containing sulfur-rich oil and gas, Grade 310 effectively prevents the diffusion of carbon and sulfur into the base metal matrix, thereby averting phenomena such as "metal dusting" or intergranular corrosion embrittlement. In contrast, the service life of Grade 309 in long-term carburizing environments is reduced by approximately 30% to 40%.
Customized Services
- TORICH offers custom sizing services for non-standard dimensions, covering an outer diameter range of 5–630 mm and a wall thickness of 0.5–55 mm; we fully support the customization of special dimensions.
- We provide specialized shaping processes-including swaging, flaring, flanging, and spin forming-specifically utilized in the manufacturing of burner mixing tubes.
- Additionally, we offer specialized surface treatment services, such as pre-oxidation blackening, electrochemical polishing of inner walls, high-temperature ceramic coating, and precision shot blasting.

Possible Alternative Grades
- 310S (UNS S31008) serves as the most direct, low-carbon alternative to 310; it is utilized in applications involving extensive welding where post-weld solution annealing is not feasible, and its cost is comparable.
- 309/309S is suitable for furnace equipment operating at slightly lower temperatures (≤ 980°C); it exhibits excellent oxidation resistance and is less costly than 310.
- 253MA contains only 1% nickel; however, at 1100°C, its creep strength and oxidation resistance surpass those of 310. It is ideally suited for cutting-edge furnace radiant tubes that demand exceptionally high strength-specifically those requiring reduced wall thickness to minimize self-weight-though its cost is higher than that of 310.

FAQ
Q: Can 310 seamless furnace tubes be bent and welded on-site during installation?
A: Yes. The austenitic base material possesses excellent bending and welding properties. For furnace piping applications, TIG welding (GTAW) is recommended; under standard operating conditions, no additional post-weld heat treatment is required.
Q: Can this tubing be used in furnaces operating under reducing atmospheres, such as those containing hydrogen or carbon monoxide?
A: Standard 310 tubing is suitable for weakly reducing atmospheres. For applications involving strongly reducing atmospheres, we recommend ordering the customized low-carbon 310S variant to prevent intergranular corrosion of the tubing.
Q: Does surface bluing or blackening indicate a quality defect?
A: No. After bright annealing, the tubing surface typically appears silvery-white. However, if the material undergoes high-temperature annealing in air followed by pickling, the surface will exhibit a matte gray finish resulting from the removal of oxide scale; this is considered a normal condition. We also offer a pre-oxidation blackening treatment, which enhances radiative heat transfer efficiency.
